Precizní hypnotický funeral doom metal. Belgie.
Through 4 tracks mixing funeral doom with ambient and darkwave, Until Death Overtakes Me explores the idea of life being incomplete unless it passes death’s threshold.
Antemortem (before death) is not a glorification of death, but focusses on the path to it. Life with its pains and terrors might long for the end, but could just as well explore the freedom that comes with accepting the inevitable.
The contrast between heavy distorted guitars and ethereal ambient melodies mirrors life, but offers an open ending – is life a pained struggle, where one is shoved forwards, closer to death all the time, forcing one to blindly squeeze as much meaning out of every moment, or is it rather a calm stream that gently carries one to the completion of a journey that’s best experienced with eyes wide open, regardless of what may come after? More likely, both aspects remain at play : primal instincts balanced by intelligent...

When vocalist / guitarist Trondr Nefas passed away in May 2012, that tragic event sealed the end of URGEHAL. Out of friendship, respect and as a tribute to their late friend, the Norwegians decided to go ahead with producing a final album. Half of the material on 'Aeons In Sodom' was written by Trondr, and the other half was composed by guitarist Enzifer. URGEHAL invited close friend and band mates from other projects of Nefas to contribute, and those honoured in this way all joined to pay homage. 'Aeons In Sodom' is therefore a very special record – a work coming from the heart that is truly keeping the faith and spirit of original Norwegian black metal. This album is adhering to the principles that Trondr Nefas demanded to be followed such as a strict policy of using satanic and...

Vandød was a rather short lived old school black metal band from Trondheim in Norway. Playing a
style true to the old Norwegian black metal roots, cold and grim yet with a melodic twist. Taking
their inspiration from the early days of bands such as Ulver, Emperor, Burzum, Darkthrone, Kampfar
and Taake. The idea behind the band came to mind by Varskrik (Vocals) and Svartsinn (bass) in the early winter of 2002,
wanting to play old school black metal in a time when most other BM bands were reaching for the stars.
When they soon were joined by Gjenferd (guitars) and Myhrd (drums), the band quickly had a handful of songs
and decided they needed two guitarists to make the sound the way they wanted it to be. Enter Hinmand, the melodic
sound got implemented and Vandød became a very respected band in their short few years of grimness.
Varskrik and Svartsinn have since the band split up, been wanting to release these songs because the demand
has been surprisingly high even to this...
Nové jméno polské black metalové scény.
Varmia were established in 2016 in Olsztyn, Poland by guitarist & vocalist, Lasota. The band’s name is taken from the historical region in northern Poland, Warmia. It reflects the band’s lyrical content which is inspired by pre-Slavic qualities and heritage of the Warmia district. Varmia carry the ethnic Slavic spirit into the recording by utilising Slavic instruments and recording the material fully live.
Entitled, “W ciele nie” is the band’s second album that follows up on the outstanding debut, “Z mar twych”.
Varmia favour the natural and authentic sound. That is why the new album was recorded in a makeshift studio in an old barn, while the vocals and ethnic instruments were recorded live in the forests in Warmia, a region in northern Poland. The result of this is black metal loaded with wilderness and heathen spirit.
